Default Front wheel spacers

I just put chrome spacers in my front wheel on my 2009 Ultra Classic. My question is the directions tell me that when putting this back together I need to put a rod or drill bit in the hole in the axle and then it should be right up against the Fork and I can't seem to get this to go in any farther. The nut on the other side seems to be the same as it was when i took it apart. Everything torques like it says and i am trying to find out if i need to take this apart and chance anything or is it ok. Everything seems to be fine but just worried.

Default Spacers

Quit worrying, git off that computer, jump up on that rig, grab ah hand full of throddle, and skin the ears back on that thing. You'll know soon enough if she's right - or - if she ain't!
