Consider the geometry of the tire. A motorcycle tire tread is curved for cornering, leaving a smaller center contact area, where the greatest wear occurs. In contrast, a car tire is flat across the tread. Unless you want to endure the kind of cornering a flat tread would produce, you just have to live with relatively low mileage as a part of riding a cycle.

Default Mitsutomo Tires on 03 Ultra

Does anybody have information on Mitsutomo Tires and how good they perform. I am not having much luck locating info on this specific tire. Tech told me they have tread pattern like dunlop and "are just a less expensive then a dunlap". since I only ride on two tires I want to know if I can trust them.

Thanks.

Default tread depth

Motorcycle tires generally have far less tread depth @ the center than car tires.

Wait till the car tire on my motorcycle guys get ahold of this thread. I shop at Jake Wilson for my tires and save a boat load of cash with them. You can even print coupons for them and save even more. Just google jake wilson coupons and viola. Yes it is because of the compound, softer for grip means faster wear.

Latest jake wilson coupon code JWCM . Ordered 2 touring tires bsw for the 2006 Roadglide for 196 bucks shipped to my door after discount code.
Plus they have a reward program which earned me 5% toward future purchase of another 10 bucks. Net cost 186 for 2 touring Dunlop 402 tires for what most dealers charge for 1.

Your rear tire contact patch is what,,,a 3" X 4" oval,,
and less on the front,
A car has four all about 8" X 5"
I hear 8-12K all the time for rears,,It takes correct pressure
and smooth moves on all the control Inputs.

I have a 2000 ULTRA and I generally get 30,000 out of a front tire and 15,000 on the rear and that is 2 up riding. I have always used Harley Dunlops. A way to save on rear tire wear is to not accelerate hard from a stop.
