Thumbs up 2009 Touring model front tire issues question

I was just curious as to how many people in here with a 2009 touring model that had tire issues? After looking at the HD service bulletin from Nov 2009, it states that customers with 09 touring models will receive a letter in the mail informing them to bring their bike to the dealer so they can check the front tire issue. Has anyone received the letter? I didn’t. I did receive the recall on the fuel tank however, but not the tire.

X2 for me. I made an appointment for 2 Apr to do the fuel tank recall and look at my front tire to see if anything needs to be done. I think it looks ok but what do I know. My front brake rotor seems warped however as it is hard to turn and then get easy again. Will let you know if anything comes out of the tire inspection.

I didn't get a letter but at the fuel tank recall they checked the front tire and put on a new one. I was getting a low speed wobble, and that seemed to fix it. Now if I can just figure out the new vibration I have I will be a happy camper.

The service bulltin is M-1258A...Letters were sent out around Nov 4th, 2009. Never go one for my 09 RKC but had the tire changed out from a 407 to 408 type. After I had purchased a new tire. So, I am working on my 3rd front.

Have the same problem with the rear...cupping...on my 2nd rear tire and it cupping again...Just dropped off the two orignal tires to HD ...Very long story but they have a problem with the rears.

I was at the harley dealer in tampa BS'n with the parts guy last month when the subject of tires came up. I mentioned that I have a chopping problem with both of my tires. He told me that there was a problem with the 407 series tires and to check my vin to see if my bike was on the list. Well, the front tire is... they say there hasn't been a reported problem with the rear tire chopping, but mine clearly is.... I do have 17k on the bike(still stock tires) and even with 3/32's left in the tread on the front, they still covered the tire. So it's new(408 series) I did not recieve the notice on the tire, however, I did get the one for the gas tank mount bushings...

No, I haven't complained about it to corp yet, but maybe now I will...It's going to take alot of people with continuous complaints for HD to honor the issue. There is still quite a bit of tread left on the rear tire, even with 17k.. I would love to not have to buy a rear tire and pay install. However, I do have the tire and wheel warranty, maybe the rear tire will find a nail, screw or other unknown object in it and have to be covered with no $$$$ out of pocket

Sorry Jerry, wouldn't have been able to meet you at NPR Harley during the week. I work in Downtown Tampa, by the time I get out of work and half way home, harley is already closed. I am going up there today(Saturday)if the wife doesn't complain too much.(I'll buy her a shirt or something, lol)
