problem with rear wheel size and broken belts
I have an 09 RG, replaced the rear wheel with a 5 1/2 18, in 9k miles I have broken two belts on my 3rd belt now.
I have been known to do rolling burnouts and wheelies -- the guy said the belts are breaking due to the alignment of the rear wheel.
He said the hub on the rear wheel is about 1/16 to 1/8 to wide which is causing the mis-alignment.
He said the hubl needs to be taken to a machine shop and shave about 1/8 of an inch off of it.
any thoughts on this?
I appreciate any feedback.

From what I can make out, broken belts are caused by them being adjusted too tight. If yours is out of alignment it needs putting right!
Who is the guy who said the hub needs to be shaved down? Who supplied the new wheel? I suggest you contact the people who supplied the wheel and ask their advice about belt alignment. Otherwise you need to find a shop who can check belt alignment and put it right for you.
