Default ME880 on RK

Does anyone know for sure if a 140 tire will fit in the rear fender of a 2000 Road King Classic with no clearance issues? I have a stock suspension front and rear.
I ran one on my '02 RK - ME880's run slightly wider than most and had to remove my inner
belt guard - rubbed. Make sure you check their recommended pressures - higher. Just
google "metzeler motorcycle air pressures" for their site.

Spacered out the pulley from the rear wheel and the belt rubbed the inner guard - what I
had to do to keep tire off the belt.

I've run nothing but 140's on my 2000 w/o issue since the beginning. Nothing needed removed.

From what I have seen some of us do have to make mods while others don't. There doesn't seem to be any logic, just a case of try it and make mods if necessary. I used a 140 Avon Venom and had to trim the rubber skirt on my belt guard.

Choosing a 140 is a good move if you travel loaded and two-up a lot. Harley went to the 140 rear with a higher load rating. I now have a 150/80 in my old Evo, using a later spec narrow belt, which is rated the same as the 140.

You can modify the belt guard, remove the belt guard, have issues...or spend $40 on a Pingel Spacer like I did and not need ANY mods:
