this time after getting 11k mi out of my stock dunlop d 402 on my 08 streetglide, i bought the dunlop elite 3. it doesn't got the drunk *** wiggle that the d 402 had, and it's supposed to wear thirty percent longer than the stock one. dennis kirk was the cheapest by far.

I got 10k out of my original d205. I have installed a 210/50/17 metzeler which is also a sport tire and is looking like maybe 10k from it too. At this time those are the only 2 tires that will fit our bikes.

Captain,
I don't think you have a problem with your bike or riding style like some may suggest. My 07 Fatty only has about 4500 miles and it is time for a new rear tire. I was at a motorcycle shop with a buddy of mine, the guy put a tread depth gauge on my tire, he said I was barely inspectable. I am going to try the metzeler (sp) and see what I get. The guy at the shop said he has been seeing alot of these tires wear poorly with not many miles on them. I do ride two up quite a bit. I don't ride hard at all or brake all the time. It must be this size tire because the other smaller tires are not doing this.

I say you have to pay for traction. I would rather have more traction and have to buy more tires than be a@#hole over elbows in the bushes.

Dennis Kirk has a pirelli night dragon that fits. I actually have 2 on order.

Now if I can just go 3000 miles without picking up nails in the friggin rear tire.

I got 13K miles out of my stock Dunlop on the Sportster and only 7K miles on the stock Dunlop on the Heritage. Must be the weight of my fata$$ Heritage I guess. At the rate I ride I will need 4 rear tires per year. Looks like I will be tryin' another brand.

CONTINENTAL and BRIDGESTONE are your hard rubber tires. Then CHENG SHIN tire are your cheap tires. AVON, DUNLOP, PIRELLI, METZELER, MICHELIN, DURO, GBC, MAXXIS and KENDA are some other types of tires or you could just use a stock tire.
