Pirelli Night Dragon Tires

I've got about 3k on mine and for me the jury is still out. Had SE180s for the two previous rears and as far as dry traction I never had the SE180 get loose on me and the Night Dragon has a couple of times. Yet I need more miles on the Night Dragon before i cast my final vote. For wet traction I already have to give the advantage to the SE180. I guess a caveat is in order here. I do very little riding in the rain, indeed it is only when i get caught by surprise. Well yesterday was the first time for the Night Dragon and I was downright spooked. Especially on a tar strip or a painted line and it seemed to come loose way to easy.
Anyway, my judgement on a tire is on its dry performance and tire life so I am not that concerned about wet performance. From a tire wear perspective it looks like it should do at least the SE180s 7500 miles hopefully more. We'll see....

If you don't ride often in the rain I suggest you should be very concerned at your tyres wet performance! That is when you most want the darned things to look after you.....

I've just returned from a long distance ride and have 9000 miles on my Night Dragons I installed on my 07 Heritage in late June 2011. I have to replace the rear now and have it ordered. I love this tire as the grip and handling are great thru the twisties along the PCH and thru northern WA, ID and MT. I expect to get another 500-1000mi on it before I change it. The front is about half worn so I'll wait and see what I get out of it. They stick very well and I'm starting to get some "crack wandering" now that the rear is worn out. Didn't do that when they were new! Hope this helps anyone interested in this tire!
