Default Dunlop tires

I cannot believe the lack of quality in Dunlop tires. I ride a HD '07 Fatboy and I had to replace the back tire at 6,500 miles and the front tire at 9,500 miles. I just looked at my back tire again and noticed that the steel cords are showing through my back with only 3,500 miles on it. These tires not only cost twice as much as car tires but they only last 1/10th as long. And get this - THERE IS NO WARRANTY on them.

There has to be better tires out there!

I have always been told not to expect more than 8,000 miles from bike tires, less from a brand like Metzler that is stickier. Probably not a quality issue, but a style of riding issue, or something amiss on your bikes setup. 3500 miles is pretty poor durability.

I have 12,000 + miles on my 07 SB and still have 3/32 thread depth. Could the tire wear be from your riding style?

Lightbulb Tire Mileage Warranties/Guarantees...? NOPE!

To the best of my knowledge, unlike the automotive industry, there is no tire manufacturer out there that produces tires for motorcycles that provides any sort of mileage guarantee on their tires, much less a mileage warranty.

How much you want to bet that the first one that actually does will pretty much OWN the H-D replacement tire market...?

As the caveat says, your mileage will vary...!

Cheers

I don't ride hard and as far as the set up goes I don't know what you mean. Can you explain?

Default Dunlop tires

I just don't know who to believe. One shop said its because of the 1/2" offset on the front forks of '07 Fatboys that "screws it all up."

Another Harley dealer told me not to expect any more than 4,500 miles from a 200M tire because they are so soft. Others tell me I should expect 12,000 mile on the front tire and 9,000 or more from the back tire.

I hear all these conflicting stories and no one seems to know or won't tell.

Has antone heard about the offset on '07 Fatboys front ends that was an "oops" from the HD factory?

Who really knows for sure?

Metzeler currently does not have a fitment for 2007-and-up Fatboys...they are not currently producing a tire that would fit the front wheel of the bike. But then again, AFAIK, nobody is. At least not yet.

To the best of my knowledge, right now Dunlop is about it.

Cheers
