Wouldn't surprise me, as the previous owner got the front and rear fender from one, I am pretty sure.

And yeah, I was talking to a buddy today about refurbishing em and chroming em, would have to take them to Quebec to do so; or since they have such a huge motorcycle culture there. Find some appropriate wheels there.

 

Yeah, the previous owner modified it quite heavily compared to the OGs. I am debating bring back to the OG, or keeping the cat squasher.

Think I might just buy a softail to mod heavily, and have a narrow tire on.

What are the wheels from?

 

Not sure what style you might be looking for, but I’ve had good luck buying singles instead of a pair.
I simply wanted a stock, chrome, 16” wagon wheel for front and back.
Doesnt sound unreasonable, right?

I was pretty shocked to discover the value of that option, as used were fetching big money, and rechromed were about $1000/set for OEM.

I found my rear for $50 & the front for $90.
The rear has been quoted locally at $280 to rechrome.

All in on my “pair” is now only $420.

My point is to think outside the box a bit and I’m confident you’ll find a good option.

I’d think about powder coating those, then maybe polishing the ribs/high spots.
That would look great, especially if you choose something other than black.

And you know they fit the tire setup you want to run.

So first, they're Not from a "Touring" bike because the Touring line didn't use 9-Spoke wheels on the 99-Earlier tapered roller bearing wheels . The closest would be the 10-Spoke which looked very very close to same.

The Rear may be original to your bike, because FXRs (& others) came with that wheel.

In the Front, another REAR wheel is being used - Boom! ... along with a wideglide conversion... (Btw, Harley didn't have any of those 16" 9-spoke FRONTS (99-earlier))

Check those exposed Bolts, probably 7/16", but definitely Not 5/16"


ALSO, you should probably see the valve stems on the opposite of the wheels (Rear vs. Front)

better off finding diff wheels. to chrome those, you will have to take down the surface to smooth finish and for a cast wheel, might prove to be challenging since you can uncover pockets or voids. you can fine media blast them and have them powdered coated.
cat squasher in the terms wide enough to flatten a cat that got in the way. don't work on german shepherd though, been there done that.
