Default Continental Conti Tour Tire Review

I've tried numerous different brands of tires over the years and never had a favorite. These Continentals have been great for the most part and the only complaint I have is the rear one wore out quick. I only got 7100 miles on it. I could probably push it to 8k but I have some road trips coming up so I ordered another one, mainly because the front probably still has another 8k left on it and I don't want to mix them. The only reason I can think of for it wearing so quick is, it has been on a dyno twice (shootout and later a tune) and with the S&S 124 kit, it's hard not to get up and go...quickly.
This picture is of the old one on the left and the new replacement on the right (regardless of how they look in the pic, they are the exact same size). If I can get around 13k-15k out of this one, it will be my favorite. They're quiet and the grip is phenomenal, wet or dry.

I was told they are a smooth riding tire. Any thoughts on that. I’m currently on my second set of Avon cobras, the newer chromes.

Interesting report! Looks to be right at the wear bar. Can you post your tire sizes you chose and also the model of the tire specifically?

I'm curious about other brand tires too.

Dang. I thought someone had a really old set of tires! I see they started making a newer version of the Conti Tours. I ran the older version all through the 1980's and 90's until they went out of production. Those were some good tires.

My final comments on these tires: I had 6300 miles on the rear and may have had another 1k or so left. Out of that 6300 miles, I estimate about 5500 of them was all interstate including a 4k mile trip to LV from AL. I replaced it a little early because the front was bulging (cupping to a whole nother level). I got 13,400 miles on the front. Conclusion: these tires are awesome as far as performance goes but they don't last. The back is good for 7500 and the front around 12,500.
