Default 28,242 miles on Dunlop rear tire

I rode my bike on Jan 1st and then went under the knife and didn't ride again until 28 April. Before I took that April ride, I checked my tire pressure and the front had 34 lbs so I topped it off at 36 lbs.

My rear tire only had 13.5 lbs, which surprised me, but since I was going to get a new tire before the riding season started, I just filled it up to 40 lbs. I rode 125 miles that day, and stopped at the dealer to make an appt to have the rear tire changed. Well today was appointment day, so I thought it best to check my tire pressure again, and it was down 5 lbs in only a week.

I know, we senior citizens sometimes have delayed synapse from the eye to the brain, but it finally occurred to me that I might have a nail in my tire. I put it up on my jack and checked for a nail, and damn if I didn't fine a tiny little nail, right in the middle of my tire.

When I checked my maintenance records, that rear Dunlop tire had 28,242 miles on that tire,. I just find that amazing.

I am amazed at how well the American elites wear. I am typically hard on tires and they hold up remarkably well.

I’d be happy if I could get 10,000 miles out of a Dunlop

OP, you must have the softest throttle hand known to man. I gouge on it all the time in the twisties. I'm pretty happy with 10K or 12K out of mine.

That is amazing, I also have one that I threw into my basement, and has over 12 years and the tread still looks the same as the day it was put there. Both amazing.

The rear tire was replaced April 2018 when my bike had 39,696 miles, so this is two summers worth of riding. I put just shy of 12,000 miles on my trip to Alaska last summer so a lot of steady riding. I guesstimate that another 4K-5K was just up and down the freeway, and many smaller trips. I currently have 67,938 miles, so it all adds up. This 2015 Limited has been a real good bike, and I do ride it.

I'd still be interesting in seeing what the tread of the tire looked like after that many miles.
