What have you used?

How many miles?

Handling dry and wet?

I'm on my stock Michelin Scorcher 11's about to break 8,000 miles. Lot of highway and back road exploring. I don't do burnouts.

Looking for a replacement. Would like longer wear and rounder profile for quicker/easier turn in.

What have you run?

You might want to also post that question in the V-Rod section

Very wide tyres like that are often high speed rated and tend to have relatively little tread depth. That particular Michelin model is indeed V-speed rated. Avon's equivalent Cobra Chrome has 9mm tread depth, which may give better mileage, but I suspect you will not find a really high mileage tyre in that size!

Where they put the actual grooves in the tire has nothing to do with longevity. Neither does speed rating. That just means it won't blow apart at the rated speed.

Speed rating has a lot to do with tread depth. High speed tyres have relatively thin carcasses, to hold them together at high speed (in this case up to 149 mph). Which by definition means they do not have much tread depth, hence are less able to provide high mileage. 'Twas ever thus!

What exactly do you call this, again, LOL?

Full depth grooves across the radius of the contact patch. Got some crow to eat?

Got 8,803 miles out of my Scorcher 11's. Cord was showing down the center.

Replaced with Commander II's.

Surprisingly light and more stick than stock. Also have given the handling a much lighter feel.

Hope they last a while. Didn't take long to hit 9000 miles.
