Default Hub width

I have a 2003 FXDWG and I bought a used rear 16 inch Thunderstar wheel to replace the stock spoke wheel that had gone bad. The first problem I found was that the bearings didnt seem to seat completely into the hub they way they did on my old wheel, then I noticed my old center spacer was to short. I measured the difference and my stock wheel hub width is 6 3/4" and the thunderstar is 7 1/4". I realize this wont work on my bike now, I just need to find out what it fits so I dont screw someone else over the way I got screwed when i bought it.

It sounds like you got a 08-later FL Softail 16x3 wheel.

Is it Machine Finish with Black Inlays, Chrome with Textured Inlays or Mirror Chrome throughout?

I can probably give you a part# and fitment ... if you come back

So what did you end up doing for a Rear Wheel anyways?

Here ya go ...
40833-08 Textured Black - 16" x 3" Rear THUNDERSTAR

Fitment:
'08-'17 FLS (Softail Slim), FLSS (Softail Slim S), FLSTC (Heritage Softail Classic), FLSTN (Softail Deluxe)
'11-'13 FXS (Blackline)
'18-later FLDE (Deluxe), FLHC (Heritage Classic), FLHCS (Heritage Classic S) and FLSL (Softail Slim)

In summary, it's really fits any 08-later Softail that came Originally Equipped with a 16 x 3" Rear wheel

You can use this wheel as a "Fitment" reference ... different wheel, but same fitment (HD has stopped selling the Thunderstar)
16 x 3 Machete Rear Wheel

Thanks for the help. I took the rear mag off my 01 sportster for now but I miss riding my sportster so I'm still looking for a wheel. I just dont want a spoke after the old one going bad on me. Death wobble at 85 wasn't fun!

Yeah Not Fun

So you're using the Sportster Tire opposite of "Rotation Arrow" direction? ... (what sportster wheel is it? 13-spoke or the Custom model "Solid"?)

Btw, I have some wheels that would work, if interested

No. I worked for years installing motorcycle tires. I swapped my tire, pulley and rotor from my wide glide onto the sportster wheel. Its the solid XL1200C wheel.
