Hi all,

As the title says, I'm looking for a set of laced 18" 40 spoke wheels that won't break the bank.

I want to run 18's on both front and rear. I find some companies offer an 18x3.5" rear, but only a 21" front. Others only offer 16's for front and rear in a 3.5" wide rim.

I looked at RideWright Wheels and Black Bike Wheels. They look awesome, but the wheels would cost almost more than the bike is worth.

Do any of you have any suggestions for an affordable set?

Buy secondhand laced wheels and have them rebuilt with new 18" rims?

 

I've given up on trying to find a usable used set. They cost almost as much as a pre-built set after initial shipping, rims, spokes, nipples, powder coat, labor to lace them up, and shipping for all of the components.

 

Fair enough! It was just a passing thought. I've only ever bought secondhand cast wheels, which can be had for almost two a penny, given a little patience! There are a few HDF sponsors who sell wheels, possibly spoked ones?
