Default No weights on wheels from factory

I'm getting ready to put the first set of tires on my 1012 FLS. I've been reading about the importance of balancing your wheels and stick on vs spoke wights, but I have no weights at all on the rims. Am I missing something here? Are they balance differently at the factory?

Just because it's done at the factory doesn't mean it was done right. Factory work (and probably most dealers) is often done on the "close enough" principle, and whoever checked the wheel balance (if it wasn't just missed) may have thought it was good enough as is. I have seen a couple motorcycle tire mountings that were actually real close, but in my experience, that's rare. I hate stick on weights, missiles when/if they come off at speed, besides being ugly, and use dyna beads. I am thinking about trying that liquid balancer/sealer on the next set, though.

Are you unhappy with the Dyna beads or is there something about them you feel isn't sufficient? I have no experience with them.

To further that thought; when you mount a tire then you don't have a need for the Cycle Hill balance stand?

I just replaced the tires on my '06 Fatboy. Front wheel had five 1/4 oz weights on it. I was concerned the wheel may have been out of balance with that much weight on it. Put Dyna's beads in - bike rides super smooth.

I've just had a new front tyre installed and it was balanced without any need for weights. Could just be a coincidence that your bike has two perfect tyres!

ride-on is the bomb, i'll never have lead weights on any bike i own ever again. plus you get punture protection on top of it.
