Default Firestone ANS tires for 2000 softail?

Hey I'm looking at the Firestone/Coker ANS tires for the rear wheel of my 2000 FXSTS. The current tire is a 150/80/16. (roughly 6" wide) The largest ANS is 5" wide for a 16" wheel. The way I understand it is the width is the distance between the sidewalls at the widest point. I believe my stock rim is 3" wide. I should be ok right? would I have any problems running this tire on my bike?

Most tyre brands recommend suitable rim widths for their tyres. Have you checked Firestone's website? As far as I can tell, they do two different tread patterns that are nominally 5.00 wide, both suitable for your 3" wide rim. You may find them about one inch larger in rolling diameter than your current tyre.

Thanks. I found a few online resources and they all point to this tire fitting my rim. It's on its way!
