Default Wheel/tire dilemma

So here's the problem: hit a pothole over the weekend and damaged my 2014 SG's front wheel--tweaked the edge of the wheel out just enough that it now has a slow air leak at the bead. I don't know that I'm comfortable trying to bang it back in and hope for the best. So I need a new wheel.

So the question is--do I replace what I have with an identical wheel/tire combo, and hope that this doesn't happen again, or do I get a smaller wheel and a tire with a taller sidewall to absorb the bumps better? Ideas and input from everyone (especially anyone who's had the same issue) are appreciated. TIA!

Curious...If you were to go smaller on your 2014 SG, how do you think you would get there? What would be your flavor? Cost effectiveness may even come into play.

Aftermarket Front with your "Enforcer" rear?

Set of matching aftermarket wheels?

Or maybe the following OEM wheels:
"Airstrikes": 16, 17, or 18" Front Wheel with matching design 16" rear
"Impellers": 17" Front with matching design 16" rear
Laced Spoke: 16, 17, or 18" Front Wheel with matching design 16" rear

Bang it back in and add a tube. Then shop for wheels.

My Enforcer wheel is 19", but apparently there are 18" Enforcers out there too. So if I snagged a wheel that was 1" less in diameter, then I could use a tire that was 1" larger in diameter (assuming the rotors worked) and pretty much keep the same height/geometry that I already have--just with a taller sidewall tire. Thoughts?

18" Enforcers...where did you hear that?

Sure, if they made such a thing, you could use a very close in Outside Diameter 130/70B18 (vs your 130/60B19) and be done with it.

Btw, you could keep moving down in Wheel Diameter while moving up in tire aspect ratio to keep very close to the same O.D. (that's why i was giving so many options in my previous post)
16" wheel - MT90B16 (MT=130) tire
17" wheel - 130/80B17 tire
18" wheel - 130/70B18 tire
19" wheel - 130/60B19 tire
All very close in Outside Diameter

But, let's assume there's no such thing as an 18" Front Enforcer. I was giving you some options to think about because you wouldn't be able to match the rear by replacing just the front plus i was curious (kinda from a survey point of view) which way you would lean.

If you accept the fact there are no 18" enforcers, would you revise your original question?

I don't think I'd be happy with mismatched wheels. Even though you can't see much of the rear one, I'D know it was back there not matching the front...😂

So as for 18" Enforcers... This guy swears this one is 18". I even emailed him and asked "Are you SURE this isn't a 19" wheel." He emailed back and said it was an 18":

Anyway, thanks for your suggestions about wheel/tire combos. If I didn't live in PA where the roads suck all the time, I'd probably have no reservations about sticking with the 19" wheel and low profile tire. Which I'll probably do anyway. But if this happens again, I'll be pissed.

I have found that seller to make quite a few mistakes. You need to know what you're looking at without relying on his provided info. It's one thing when someone sells so many items there is bound to be mistakes, that's going to happen. It's another thing when you ask a specific question that is easy to answer and they still give inaccurate info. This is another one of those cases. Luckily they provided proof in their photos.

It's also 3.5" wide not 3

Let's go back to your dented rim! Your wheel is not the first on this planet to have been damaged, there are firms out there that specialise in straightening them. Start by looking for a local firm who can inspect your wheel and at the least tell you if they can repair it. There are probably National franchises, like there are for so many other specialist jobs. Look for 'wheel repairs', 'dented rim repairs' etc. Dent Wizard is one possibility.

Thanks for the suggestion about repair. I think I'll just feel better with a new wheel, though...ordered one today. It's only money...😏
