Default Rear wheel noise

I have a 2004 Electra glide with 34k miles. I noticed a noise coming from the rear end that I have not hear or noticed before. I have tracked it down to this - it is coming from the rear wheel and sounds like a chain that is too tight and dry on a chain drive bike. Its not the tire because I can raise the rear wheel on a jack and still get the noise. Several people told me it is a normal sound and all is ok. I'm worried it's a bearing or maybe the drive belt. Any ideas on what it may be, suggestions or is this a normal sound I just have not noticed before?
Thanks

Bearings or belt. Loosen up or tighten the belt see if it goes away. Pull the tire check the bearings.
