Default 17x4.5 wire wheel

Howdy,

Got a rear wire wheel and looking for tires. I know i want a bias ply and will run a tube in it for now. Being that it's a 17" wheel, tires selections are mostly tubeless type.

Anybody know what brand tire I can run with a tube? The recommended tire size for this wheel is 160/70-17.

I plan to season the wheel for a few thousand miles and then want to seal it so I can run tubeless tires but since it is brand new I need to ride it for awhile and tighten it up until it settles in.

There are several brands of suitable tyres available that will fit that wheel, in either 160/70 or 170/60. I have an Avon Storm 160/70 on my Glide. You can use a tube in most if not all modern tubeless tyres. You can also use a radial on the rear, plus a radial or bias front. From what I've read trying to make a conventional wire-spoked wheel tubeless is a challenge! Tubes are more reliable. What bike are you installing this wheel in?
