Default New Fat Boy

Just picked up an '05 Fat Boy about three weeks ago. Can't say enough good about it. Loving every minute and mile of it so far. Taking it in on Saturday for the traditional 1000 mile service and am getting a back rest put on for the wife..(Her request). Any suggestions on whether to go removeable vs non-removeable? Also considering some exhaust changes (of course). SE slip on's OK, or what? I have never heard them up close and in person. Next, gotta do something about the handlebars. My shoulders are killing me when I ride. Am I too far away? Thanks for listening. Bernie

Fatbernie, I went with the removable sissy bar. When I ride solo, I didn't want it on. When the misses wants to ride, I snap it right on in less than a minute. Plus, I have a rack on it too. But, like I said, when she doesn't ride, it all comes off. I installed it myself in about two hours. Hope I helped!

Louie, Did you have to relocate your turn signals too? And did you do that yourself? I am a shop teacher and work with tools etc. all the time. So I am not afraid to try stuff on my own.

Welcome Bernie. how are you? Enjoying the fat boy no doubt, I have a fixed rest on my low glide and it doesn't cause too much trouble but I'm 6'6" tall so I can swing the leg over it pretty easy. Enjoy the ride bro!

Yes, I did. If you buy the detachable side plate kit, they should also sell you a kit to move the turn signals back. They give you two butt splice connecters and two hollow mounting studs. All you have to do is cut the wires( I hated doing this, my bike only has 500 miles, but there is no other way) You also are probably going to need a lift or jack so the back tire drops down. I have a 05 Dyna Wide Glide, so I don't have the same rear fender as you. I managed to do it with out a jack, but it was no fun[sm=headbang.gif]

Glad you found us, post pics of your scoot when you get the chance.

Go with the detachable kit...

Welcome to the forums from the Arizona Highlands. A lot of people do the SE II's but they're a bit on the loud side for my neighborhood. Others say they ain't LOUD ENOUGH. Try to hang at your local Harley shop of a weekend, listen, and ask questions.
