Hi there.
Hi Guys,
I'm Skip Grant, from Macon, Georgia. I've owned bikes on and off, since I was 17, but my last "off" was 13 years.
My first ride on a bike was sitting in front of my Uncle Harley, on his 1947 Knucklehead. I was 5 years old.
I rode a couple of rice burners over the years, but I always swore that I would have a Harley before I died.
Six years ago one of my best friends, Mike Thomas, died from injuries sustained when a drunk pulled out of a liquor store in front of him. He was a Sheriff's Deputy and was on his duty bike on his way to work after riding in a Memorial Ride in Atlanta, honoring fallen LEOs. The wreck was bad, but the hospital killed him. (But that is another story.)
I've always liked the Softails. The lines and attitude reminded me of the bikes of old. But when I ran across that Road King Police, it just felt right. It was a DeKalb County SO Cruiser, but it's been suited for two up cruising. It's still got the Police badges on it, but it's not all Police anymore. I'm gonna make it mine a bit more, and I'll probably ride this bike, until I'm too old to hold it up. I like to think that Mike is riding with me.
As for my knickname; I am a pirate by nature, Jolly by choice, and I have been known to pillage and plunder on occasion. lol
