Default New Member from Fredericksburg, VA!

Hello, I'm a new member and have some questions about my bikes! I have experience with lots of different engines and have been a mechanic on aircraft and cars for many years, but I need some some advice on the particulars of the 2 Harleys I have. I have worked on lots of Japanese bikes with multiple carbs, etc, but I don't/won't pretend to know ANYTHING about how the big V-Twins behave, nor do I have any experience with floating disc brakes. With that in mind, consider me a total novice on Harleys. I have a 2008 - 1200 Sportster Low (Totally Stock) with just over 800 miles on it, and a 2008 Dyna Low Rider with 7,500 miles on it (After market slip on mufflers, but other than that, stock). I have a couple questions. One is concerning some sort of fuel mixture/ignition issue with the Sportster and a front disc brake noise issue with the Dyna. Could anyone let me know where the proper place/forum to ask those questions is?

I have to admit, I bought the Sportster because my wife always said she wanted a Harley of her own. I have been without a bike for a few years now and thought I would buy another 4 cylinder Japanese bike in the 1000-1200cc range, but after riding the 1200 Sportster around for a few days I was SOLD! I had to have a Harley for me! I'm excited and loving the new ride! (Dyna). Looking forward to being a part of the community! -Doug

Howdy D4T. Welcome from another Fredericksburg rider.

The forum has an excellent mechanical section "Tech and Mechanical Forum":
https://www.hdforums.com/forum/harle...ical-forum-58/

Lots of knowlegible folks there that should be able to answer your questions. The forum is also divided into frame types (Sporster, Dyna, Touring, etc.) and you may have success searching previous posts in those respective locales. The fuel mix issue with your Dyna Low could be a need for a re-map. EFI is a quirky thing if it does not have the right data input into the computer.
