new member introduction/1982 sportster 1000 iron head???
Hey everyone, I'm Chris, old to bikes new to forums. I know my way around japanese bikes for the most part, but I've recently acquired my way second Harley Davidson & I'M quickly finding out they are a whole different animal in comparison to the bikes I'm used to dealing with. My Dad ( life long Harley owner) suggested I join a forum. It's been 26 years since I had my 1st Harley (daddy bought me a 76 super glide when I was 19) I obviously didn't appreciate it or I'd still have it right? But I was young dumb and full of dung. Anyway enough with my long boring life story and straight into a question I'm sure one odds you guys or gals can answer for me (the only stupid question is the one not asked) I purchased what I was told was an 82 iron head sportster. After taking a closer look and finding through research that in 82 there were several sirens models made I'm beginning to question weather or not it actually an iron head. I called the dealership with the vin and was told it was a XLH. My question is is just that is an XLH an iron head? Or maybe could someone have put an iron head motor on that frame? Can anyone tell me how to determine if it truly is an iron head? Is there anything distintivr about the motor itself that would confirm it truly is an iron head?
