what a crock of BS this sounds like!
I just joined this forum ( maybe for the second time ,the login I usually use didn't work so I rejoined ,any ways I'm a member for sure now).
I have a 1991 customized (with aftermarket parts and paint ) springer that I ride ,and a brand new 1995 Roadking That has 14 kilometer /or 8 miles on it sitting in my living room since 1995 .
I also have a 1978 BMW R100 RS 1000 that I havn't riden since about 1989. I'm in the process of reassembling my 1959 panhead dresser.Originally it was a 1961 loaded dresser but It was stolenjustafter I had it restored .I got everything back but the frame and eng ,since I found out the eng had the serial number altered by the theives I let the insurance pay me out ,except I bought back the salvage .Since toreassemble my bike I needed a frame and eng I bought a 1959 pan basket case (missing a few parts) So now the bike that started out as a 1961 green dresser is going to be a 1959 red & white dresser .The only place they put a serial number was the eng .I have all the parts I need to turn the 61 into a 59 ,headliteand housing ,frt brake tube ,and several other minor things ..Mostly the headlitetell you its 59 or older .This bike sat in my spare room in peices along with the other peicessince around 1992 or so. Just 10 days or so something snapped in side and I'm putting ittogether .
In the early 70's I built3 bikes ,48,59 ,and a 1956.I bought them all off Frank Tucker ( dead now ) he used to sell bikes in pieces .I brought my first one home in pieces on the bus ,first the frame ,then front end ,and many many trips later I had the uglyest bike iI ever seen . It ran but that was about it .After that I had an idea how things fit so the next one was ok ,and the third one ok too. I dismanteled them several times to make them look different over the time I had each one (I just owned one at a time).I havehad a bike around since then ,Allways a Harley except the Beemer .
Now that I'm putting this decker together I remember howenjoyable it wasbuilding these things.I can't stop myself .I'm thinking of nothing but the bike ! I'm allready planning to build the second bike ( the basket case ) I have a 58-64 style frame with swing arm.I'd like to make it a 60 -64 because I have the headlite and directional lights ,with all mounting brackets .I just need the right year eng ..
So thats my story ,BS as it may sound ,but Ive got a digital camera if anyone cares to see what they look like ..

I love pics of old bikes, and I am sure others would like to see them too.
