Default Metal bar attached to plastic seat pan

I am new to the forum, and hoping you guys can help me. I have an 2003 ultra classic 100th anniversary edition and the metal bar that is attached to the plastic seat pan that slides on top of the tank broke off underneath the seat. I was wondering if any veterans would have any experience either fixing it or replacing the seat pan? I'm trying to avoid buying a whole new seat. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

You might want to remove some of the staples and reattach the tongue with a new support piece.
To minimize the height of your new fasteners you can use chicago screws ( I think).
I've found it best to use an electric stapler when stapling into plastic.
I hope this helps.
