Hey everyone I'm Kenny from Southern PA.
I got a 78 Honda cb400a and completely went over it for my first bike a couple years ago. Now I have a 2000 Sportster 883xl. The weight distribution difference has been fun getting used to, but it's so much nicer to ride.
I've rebuilt a couple of these Keihin carbs now. The Honda has 2 of them. Pretty easy to go through, not as easy to synchronize. This Keihin carb on the Sportster is pretty much the same thing. Since I've gotten the bike I haven't really needed to go over much, but now that I've been riding it more things are coming here and there.
The factory manual for this is 10x better than the Honda one. Although sometimes a few more pictures wouldn't hurt. Lol. I just rebuilt the carb because it was coughing and the plugs were extremely white. I went from a 45 pilot to a 48 and tuned the pilot screw. Thanks for the wealth of info here btw. Jetting 101 and the tuning sticky's are awesome.
I need to get some tires and brakes and I would like some new handlebars but that can all wait until winter.
Cheers.
