Welcome mate or as we say in New Mexico "whaz up ese". For assistance with your decision on the 883 I'd check in with the folks in the sportster area of the fourm (link below). you might also check the internet for reviews of that model. (link also below) As far as reliability, Harley had a well desirved bad reputation during the AMF years 1969-1975. Harley bought the company back in 1975 and have produced exceptional workmanship since. You can trust in the brand but no telling what care was taken of your prospect for it's first 37,000. Good luck on your decision.

Welcome and 3 + on LoBoT advice, do internet search and check on specific forums. Evo is a good motor, and the sportster is a fast reliable scooter in most cases, but like anything else have to judge how it was treated ? Look up recalls on that year and model to see if anything pops up, also custom touches can be good or can be bad depending on who did the work and how well they did it, if you are not HD experienced or mechanically inclined then take a friend who is or ask an HD mechanic for opinion or advice, can;t hurt to ask for another set of more experience eyes , it will either confirm you have a good deal or tell you to beware. Hope it works out, but remember lots of sportsters out there, don;t have to settle on first one.
