Default new rider question on oil

i have a 2012 dyna wide glide with the 103, this sounds like i stupid question but i am up for my 1000 mile serive. i get labor free but have to pay for oil and filter so how many quarts of oil? is engine oil different from transmission? help me out, does AMS oil or Royal Purple work in both? Also is there different oil in Primary?

Free labor will help you out. Oil is probably around $10 a qt. from the dealer. As far as how many qts..............

redline has a kit with one oil for the motor, one for the primary, and another for the transmission. little hard to find sometime...order online and keep the next change of fluids sitting on the garage shelf. redline uses some of the better base stock available. mobil 1 v-twin is available nearly everywhere and is a good choice. i use 75-90 mobil 1 in the transmission.
