Default New riders safety course

Its been 20 years since I had ridden a motorcycle, so, before I got my motorcycle endorsement and bought my current bike, I took a safety course offered by my local harley dealer. It was well worth the time and money for me, and got to wondering how many new riders have taken safety courses, or if most just get their endorsement and start riding. Maybe most of you are just new to the forum but not to bikes?

I had ridden bikes in my teenage years and then not until my late 30's (many years ago). I took the MSF course before getting back into it. Great information. Very glad I did.

Welcome to the forums from Texas.

It's a law in Texas to get a bike license, even if you had one years ago and let it lapse.

Welcome and enjoy the ride. I just rode without either for years (it didn't used to be a big deal) then when first moved to Florida the now ex-wife convinced me to sell my bike. Just started riding again recently and because Florida has a pound you in the *** law if you get caught riding without an endorsement and the only way to get one is to take the class, i finally did. I am glad I did I picked up some great info that many of my fellow students probably missed because they were too busy just learing how to keep the wheels on the ground and not their asses...

I'm following the pattern here...rode when I was young and stupid(er). A few years ago my neighbor got a Harley and taught himself to ride going up and down our road. I got bit by the bug but was older and really hated pain so I did the Indiana ABATE class. Best thing I could have done. in 3 days, they teach you how to start the bike and then by Sunday afternoon, you are passing the performance test. The best $75 I've ever spent on motorcycles.
