Cool, Im glad some other folks found the classes invaluable also. In California, you need not take classes, however, as with most if not all states im guessing, you do have to pass a ridden and written test to become licensed to ride a motorcycle. A lot of people will take the test on a scooter, which is easier to maneuver and control, get their endorsement, then get on the freeways with real bikes. Scary...
The dealer near me also offers advanced rider courses, using your own bike. I'll be taking that course too, once I get to know my scoot a bit better.

 

I too just got back into motorcycling after about 15 years. Plan to take a course in the spring.
