Default Ready for my next bike

I have spent the last year riding a GS 500 to get myself ready for a new or used Harley. I live in Reno, Nevada so there are lots of winding mountain roads as well as long stretches of open road. I will mostly use the bike to commute to work, but I also plan to ride up to Tahoe and do some touring this summer. I am leaning towards a dyna or sportster 1200. I have been told that softails don't do as well in the winding roads. Any thoughts out there?

Sportster is lighter and more nimble than a Dyna but the Dyna has 6 gears vs 5, so it will cruise smoother especially at higher speeds. Both are good choices, just depends on what type of riding you will be doing the most. Around town the Sportster will be great, but if you think you might want to travel some too, I would recommend the Dyna, love mine!

Welcome to the forums from Texas. I have a Blackline but I don't have any experience with winding roads but I don't know why it wouldn't do the job.

Sporty's are light, easy to handle/nimble and love RPM's. They do really well around town and windy back roads. Good luck with your choice and welcome to the forum from Music City USA!

Dyna for sure over the Sportster. Softails are just fine on winding roads. Between the torque, larger tank, 6 speed trans, etc the Dyna is a far better choice than the Sportser. You'll regret the Sporty quickly.
