Cool Helmet companies ads are deceiving

Im starting to get frustrated with all the claims helmet companies are saying. I have been searching high and low and I ordered three different half helmets all claiming to be the slimmest low profile DOT helmets available, claiming no mushroom look... BULL!! Every one I bought (and yet to return) are MUSHROOMS! So now I am switching gears and going to attempt to go with an open face helmet, again I am looking for a slim helmet that doesn't make me look like a 10 year old kid that stole his dads helmet! Please if any one has any recommendations let me know, I feel like I have been shopping for helmets longer than I have shopped for my Bike!!

I got one at the local HD that doesn't look like a mushroom. If you have a small head they all are going to look like a mushroom.

No DOT helmet (due to the amount of impact absorbing material inside needed to pass DOT tests) will be what you want. I bought a DOT Daytona 3/4 helmet with the same "smallness" claims you mentioned and wasn't happy with it. There is a fine line between mushroom and non-mushroom. The Daytona is on the left in the below photo. On the right is a no-name non-DOT helmet (I'm happy with) I purchased at the Long Beach Motorcycle Swap Meet. Also I tried on Bitwells, those reconditioned old school Bell helmets, and some others, and they were all too big.

I've never seen one but I came across this DOT half helmet on another forum you may want to check out. (I doubt you'll find what you're looking for at any MoCo dealer event.)

>>I don't usually talk about clothing or helmets I buy but I thought this was one time I'd speak up. I wear a Harley Davidson Half helmet. Damn thing cost an arm and a leg. It gave me total mushroom head. I wore it anyway.

I've been to the point of buying a novelty helm when I ride with my brothers just because I hate the mushroom look but at the same time I want a lid that will save my head from being split open. I read a bit about the Outlaw Ultra slim lids and thought why not give it a shot?

Well Jesus on a cracker it's bloody fantastic! Waaaay smaller than my HD lid. and at $49 after shipping I couldn't be any happier!<<
