Newbie in Houston!
Hello all! I'm Andrew from Spring, Texas, a northern suburb of Houston. I decided to join up because for the first time in my life I'm really wanting a bike. I've always admired bikes, especially sportbikes, nakeds and choppers, but I never really gave riding much thought until I saw the new Sportster Seventy-Two. I literally started looking into new rider courses within the hour I first laid eyes on it.
I'm a big ol' boy, damn near 400lbs., and I took that into consideration. I went down to the dealer and threw my leg over the 72 and it felt perfect. The forward controls, the mini-apes, the seat height, everything. I did look at the bigger bikes on the recommendation of the salesman, namely the Street Bob and the Fat Boy, but they just felt too big and, of course, didn't look as cool IMO. Plus, I don't plan on being this fat much longer, so in the future I won't look as funny sitting atop a li'l Sporty.
So now I'm seriously thinking about getting a side job to earn some extra so that come Spring I can buy a gold or green 72 with all the accessories and upgrades I want, and I do have a nice little list put together. Being that this would be my first bike I'm hoping to cruise around the city some and build my riding skill and maybe take some road trips on it when I get some confidence. Of course, I've already had concern about the small Peanut tank, but I think I have a solution to that for trips out of the city.
I've already done lots of research here and I've been able to find answers to basically all my questions already, so thanks for being such a great community!
