Hey guys, I'm as new as new can be. I don't have a bike, and I've never even ridden one. I will be saving for a down payment and purchasing a bike after the first of the year. When I'm closer to actually buying one, I want to take the Rider's Edge course at a local HD dealership. I don't want to take it now, and then not be able to ride for 6 months and forget it all.

I really love the Fat Boy Lo. I can see me riding one like DaveFLSTFB's or Chrisr99's. However, since I've never been one before, I may get there and not like the feel, so I'm keeping my options open. I'm for sure getting an HD though.

In the mean time, I'll just lurk around here, soaking in the knowledge and finding more ways to spend all my extra cash.

Take your time......go to a few different dealers. Sit there and stare at the bike....sit on it for a long time. Once you decide on the model you want.... find out what paint options there are. Don't settle for what 1 HD has on the lot.... go look around. I bet I sat at the dealership for at least 2 hours when I bought my first Harley.... just staring at this Dyna Wide...sitting on it.... drove the sales guy nuts.

Welcome to the forum.

I would check into MSF instead of HD for the class. It quite a bit cheaper ($100.00 less when my wife took the course 4 years ago).

As others have said, take your time and find what fits you the best.

Mitch Bina is an instructor at North Texas Harley that is very good. One of the topics covered is selection of a bike. Take a course as soon as you can.
