Greetings from Afghanistan
Hello All. I am currently in Afghanistan and on my last deployment (I hope). I am finally pulling th trigger and purchasing a new Harley.
I am getting it now because of a great deal for people deployed overseas and I am now financially secure in my older age (38) to purchase something just for me.
So I am really stuck between 3 bikes.
I am looking at the Heritage, Fat Boy Lo, and Street Glide. My home is in WI so I will only be able to use the bike for about 6 months a year or so.
I have no experience riding a bike, I am going to take a Rider's Safety Class when I get back and before I pick up the bike.
I plan on using the bike to get to and from work and a little bit of driving during the weekends.
I am 6 ft 210 lbs pretty solid and think I would look silly on a smaller bike. Conventional Wisdom tells me to get a smaller bike to start with, but I don't want any regrets. I think the nightster and XR1200 look cool but I think I am too big and I don't want to trade in a couple of years you know what I mean?
Anyways reaching out for experience to help shed some light on my dilemma.
Thanks so much.
Justin

First, thank you for your service and keep your head down for the remainder of your tour. Second, welcome to the forum.
Any of the 3 would be good. It's more personel choice and what fits you better. If you are long legged, the Lo may be a bit low to the ground for you but still may be a better fit for you. I suggest that you try before you buy to get a better feel for what fits you best.

Welcome to the forums, and thanks for your service. I just bought a Street Glide a month ago after not riding for 20 years, loving it. Take the safety course, I did and it refreshed me on riding a bit. I also found that riding nice and cautious and by myself was a big help for the first few days; didn't have to worry about keeping up with more experienced riders.

Greetings Shipmate. Welcome from D.C.
Sounds like you walked past that AAFES car sales both one to many times like myself! lol.
To answer your question, of the three, if you decide on the Street Glide you'll won't be worried about finding a fairing or wanting a stereo later on. Just a thought...
