New member, new to Harleys
Hey guys. Figured this was the place to join for any questions or concerns I may have regarding anything Harley. I am 28 yrs old and live in Ohio. Been into bikes for a while, always liked harleys but been more of a sportbike fan until recently. I want to buy a Sportster 1200 because it seems more practical for my wife and I too ride than a crotch-rocket. Plus it feels very comfortable. We have been looking for a little while and found out that a family members co-worker has a 2006 1200 custom with 4900 miles on it. Great condition, lots of extras for $6k. That seems like a great deal to me plus its local, conveniant, and we actually know its a trustworthy seller. I got online to check its Bluebook value and it said it was only worth $5,700. This seemed odd to me since this was the best deal we have seen so far. Is the bluebook sites estimates accurate? Either way I think I am going to buy it but my wife is concerned that we may be getting a bad deal now. I just figured you guys would know a deal when you saw it better than me. Thanks in advance.

Ebay and cycle trader have same year, same miles or lower for 4500 - 5K, all the added personal stuff is money out the window and adds no value to the bike. You can buy a bike add 4-5k in stuff and you wont get to add that to the price of the bike when you try to sell it. Not trying to screw your buddy, but no need for you to pay for things you will either replace or remove.
