First Trike is my fourth Bike, New Guy Here.

Ken Bear,
Started my H-D life on a 82' XLS a lifetime ago it seems. Rode that bike, the two of us, everywhere. Finally upgraded to a Road King Classic in 05'. All our friends had baggers so why not. Wasn't really happy with it and as obvious as it is, it just wasn't as sporty, and that took away some of the fun we used to have. in 2010 we traded that for a Night Rod Special. Loved it! The fun was back. I'm a speed demon by nature. Then it was discovered that the pains in the wife's feet and lower legs weren't from being cramped on the back, but due to nerve damage.
We had always talked about some day when I was older we would get a trike. Went up to the dealer one day to get some new jackets and there she was. In all her two tone sparkly red glory. It only took one time sitting on it and I had them do the deal right there.
Not a single regret. Found out over the course of the past year that Trikes are not just for the elderly (no disrespect meant, we just seem to be stereotyped that way). And in fact there are a lot of riders younger than me (49) that own them. There is nothing more safe or comfortable if you need to have two cylinders between your legs and want to ride until you cant.
I almost bought the street glide version just because between the two I think it's more custom looking with the absence of the tour pack. And that Sun Glow Orange was just all H-D. But after thinking hard about it, we ultimately decided to just get the Ultra knowing if we didn't we would probably add a tour pack later anyway. Plus, for us, it's all about comfort now, as we grow older.
There are a lot of lady trike owners these days, and I don't one that regrets being able to have the freedom not afforded with a two wheeler. Heck I know owners (couples) and they both have them. It really is just that nice a ride.
One thing (and there are many more) for me, is by removing the mental considerations you have to always have in the back of your mind associated with a two wheeler just makes the riding experience more enjoyable. I mean, for instance, it's hard to miss a motorcycle the size of most economy cars on the highway. And stop lights and bumper to bumper traffic make you yawn.
I wish you all the best in your quest to convince your wife. But I'm guessing if she does decide to bite the bullet, you'll only wind up being jealous of her then. Keep in mind too, there are some really great conversions out there. She might want to check out that route.
