Hwy 185 north from Las Cruces to Hatch, 26 west to Nutt (stop for a cold one here), 27 north to Hillsboro, 152 west through Emory Pass (twisties and deer) to San Laenzo. Explore the area, more twisties between Lake Roberts and Pinos Alto.

Billy the Kid Scenic Byway in the Ruidoso area, research this on the internet has lots of history to take in.

Cloudcroft to Ruidoso via 244, free range area so beware of of cattle on the road.

Arizona
Tombstone and Bisbee.

Coronado trail which is just west of the AZ/NM state line and runs north from Clifton to Alpine, tons of information on the net for this. Return to nm on 180 down thru Glenwood (catwalk) to Silver City and use route describe above for Emory Pass.

This should give you a good start.

BTW..........welcome from New Mexico!
