Default Reinstall back wheel alignment and belt deflection setting

I have a 2006 ultra Classic 31,000miles. I have taken the back wheel off for my fist time. Always before at dealer. I found a great deal on a new back tire so I cleaned up the back wheel and had Harley dealer put on new tire and balance. I have the service manual for touring bikes for 2006. I put the wheel back on and followed all except for having the belt deflecton tool 10 lb tension item. I have put a couple of hundred miles on the bike and I feel all is fine. The only question i have in my mind is i really am not complete sure i did all correctly. Can any one give me some idea of how to check all with some simple instructions. Im a great carpenter and pretty good with tools and have done lots of work over the years on other types of bikes i have had. This is my first harley and the first bike with a belt instead of a chain or drive shaft. Any ideas are appricated...
thanks.

The belt tension tool runs around $30 from H-D, but you can find it cheaper elsewhere online. I purchased one (non H-D) from e-bay for around $20. If you think you'll be doing more work which requires loosening the belt, pick one up. Too loose or too tight can damage the belt. If you don't want to part with the $20 to $30, here's a thread from this forum which provides some rule-of-thumb tips...

Good luck!

Welcome from Virginia....Really need tool. Also check manual if you should check with driver on or off. My Softail says loaded and I lay across seat and check. If I set it to maximum unloaded, its at minimum loaded. Got my tool off Amazon not too long ago. $24. good deal and quality tool for clone
