my first harley build...where to start?
hello yawl. i'm a bike noob from the northwest
i have finally reached the point in my life that i want a bike. i have the available room and time for a basic build and wish to take advantage of this for a winter project.
i am new in the bike world, and to harleys. i am looking for some input on what model to look for. i am looking for something cheep and in need of repair, so i can restore/repair/modify my first bike from the frame up. i have many ties into the harley community through family and friends and various sources for motor work, frame repair, and what have you. my uncle lonnie own's and operates Northwest sidecar, which has been making sidecars for harleys for many many years, and a very reputable company in the racing community.
I really would like some guidance on what to look for. i'm looking for a good, solid model of bike with a wide range of aftermarket parts.
year/model recommendations would be great i'm not looking to build some doomsday machine, just a good, solid, sporty cruiser that i can light up the pipes on when i want too

I would start with an Evo Big Twin motor in a Dyna Lowrider chassis, cause I like the sporty look of the narrow giide front end, but you may prefer wide. Glide or Fatboy front. Evo has gear driven camshaft not found in newer HD engines.
Make a wishlist of what the bike would have/be when done-find something as close to that as you can so you don't have to go pay retail for each piece of chrome etc. Decide on modifications , custom work-etc
