back on a bike and loving it.
Hi people-
My name is tom and I just bought a 07' blue dyna low rider. I picked it up in mid october and have about 450 miles on her. I live in NYC and have been without a bike for over twenty years. So I guess I'm a newbie. My first bike was a KZ400 at 17 years old. I loved that bike. It was also blue and I learn to ride it myself in upstate new york where my dad had a cabin. As soon as I was able to move out of first gear ( And that was hard with all the hills) I took my dad on the back. He had just left my mom and we were both alone living in a shack and shooting guns and riding off road in his old jeep. I alway liked harley's from a little kid but could never afford one. You know the story. So after a few years I bought a Yamaha 750 but didn't keep that bike to long because I never had time to ride. For the next 20 years I wanted a bike but was back in the city and my girlfriend now wife and two kids didn't like bikes. When I pick up my bike I was so happy to be alive and living my dream. It was just as important to me as buying my first house and having kids and marriage. A milestone. I'm taking it slow and learning to handle traffic. The city is the worst place to ride but I started to think I'll never move. SO f_ _k it I'm riding in the CITY. I had the bike on the super slab and in the country "Sweet". I don't like 6th gear, felt like the bike shut down 2400 rpm down to 1800 rpms. Like 5th at 70mph ,nice. Too many things to say. I've been reading all these post for three weeks and feel like I know most of you. Lots of road wisdom out there. Sorry the post is so long. Just felt a strong need to reach out to you guys. I't strange but I feel like I have a horse in my yard. I'm already talking to her and building a relationship. CRAZY but true.
