I loved the g-wing and put a lot of miles on it without a hitch. I guess I just always wondered what I was missing. I had downsized to a VTX1300 and it was fun for local rides, but wanted something I could go on longer trips again, but you cant take the trunk off a goldwing. I started looking at the Harleys and here I am.. so far lovin it. I have replaced all my **** with the Harley catalog.

I did about the same as you, drove that thing and put the miles on it. Then my wife started with back trouble and we needed a softer ride, with a broken back - no more firm sporty suspensions. Sold the GW and bought the Ultra.
