Newbie from Eastern PA
Hello HDforums. Been lurking in and out of the forum here while doing research and already appreciate the knowledge and friendly attitudes around here!
I have been in to metric bobbers (KZs, XSs, all cut up and welded). In order to get riding more than wrenching, I decided I wanted to pick up a new bike that I could trust to get me wherever I desire to go!
So today I picked up my first Harley. 2011 Sportster Iron 883. I love the plain black look, as im sure you could assume from my old bobber past. Anyway, I am in love with it so far, and if it wasnt so overcast right now, I would be riding, and not online here! I feel like I shouldnt take a fresh off the show room bike out in the rain for the first ride! I look forward to learning from everyone here, and hope to be able to meet up with some of the locals around here for some rides.

kgnker, got it at Schaeffers, in Orwigsburg. I went up there instead of a more local dealer because they had a used 2010 with 1500 miles on it... turns out, they had a special right now, the used was about $600 MORE than the new one!! Plus financing is better for new, and 2 year warranty... so really couldn't beat it with the sale they had going on right now... I have also always heard good things about Schaeffers, and so so / mixed reviews about Blockers and Crossroads which are both closer.
The rain stopped for an hour, and I had it out for a few minutes... I just couldnt resist!

Schaeffers is a great dealer. Friendly, Knowledgeable and great customer service. Blockers is a good dealer also but Crossroads...... well i wouldnt **** on them if they were on fire. Plus from what I heard they are likely getting ready to go under. Hope you love the new bike and get some rain gear.
I have heard a lot of the same thing about Crossroads... I would still like to take a ride down to see their building, but I didnt want to get involved with a purchase their from what I heard!
About the rain gear... I don't know about that! I am a pretty fair weathered rider so far... Maybe with a more reliable bike I will be more inclined to ride in the rain, but not quite yet!
