Hey Gang ! I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself, as well as post a question. I own a '97 Sportster 883 (and a 13 year old argument with my wife about allowing me to trade up). I wanted to remove the primary inspection covers but had a little trouble with the star torque heads. I have star bits that fit the heads, but the bolts won't budge. Any suggestions ? Thanks !

Mike

Welcome to the forum. Try a little harder on those screws, they'll come out.

welcome from north carolina, you might try an ol fashion impact that you hit with a hammer. I have had success with one on those stuborn screws.

make sure you're actually using the correct size too. For example on my '09 Ultra the Torx bit size is T27 but a T27 doesn't usually come in a set and a lot of guys use a T25 because it does seem like it fits and they assume that a set comes with all the sizes from and to a specific point which is not the case. Assuming you are using the correct size a good dose of WD-40 or similar should do the trick.

Welcome from Melbourne Australia. Spray with WD-40 and leave for a few minutes and try again.

Welcome to the Forum from Delaware. Do you have a heat gun, try a little heat on each screw.
