I just bought a 2006 1200 sportster yesterday. I've never had much respective for harleys but over the last 2 yrs, as I searched, I've been forced to reconsider. I just wanted a regular type of bike, not a sport bike, dual purpose, or even a cruiser..there was really very few to choose from. I narrowed my search down to 3 bikes, a 1200 BMW, 750 honda RS and a harley sportster (883 or 1200). We went to the harley dealer in town, and great old fella showed me some of the 883's they had on the floor but they were much to small, as i was getting ready to leave he suggested I look at a bike he had in the back, it fit perfectly, problem was 44,000 kms (27 000miles). by chance the guy who traded it in was there and I talked to him. I was convinced and bought it without even riding it.

Can I expect any maintenance issues in the near future?

Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Sportsters are pretty much bullet proof. You shouldn't have any problems any time soon.

Thanks, I'm a little jealous of the guys who can ride all year. Hopefully the winter will pass on normally, not be drawn out till May.

Thanks. I've done some research on Google today and that is the general consensus.
I fix subs for a living but I haven't fixed one of my own vehicles for years. It would be OK to get into that again.

It will be a long few weeks till I can ride it. Last bike I had was a goldwing, around 23 yrs ago. New daughter took its place, she's getting married in Apr...
