FNG currently deployed to Afghanistan...
hey all, i'm a soon-to-be Harley owner, i purchased a brand new, 2011 road king in vivid black while oversead, i should be taking delivery of it sometime in sept. or oct. i'm extremely excited about this, but i'm a little nervous, this being my first bike... the main reason i went with a road king is because my wife is unusually tall, and both of us are not exactly small people, combined, her and i will tip the scales at over 400 lbs. so, i wanted to make sure that i got a bike that would fit both of us comfortably for long trips. i'll be using the bike as a daily driver when the weather is good, and we'll also be using it for trips down to georgia and new mexico to visit family. the harley will get far better gas mileage than our other long trip option (a 2006 ford f150 lariat with the triton 5.4l v8) and that is another reason why i went with the big tourer... that, and once the windshields are removed, the road king is just a sexy beast. i already have some minor plans for modification, but for the most part, she's gonna stay stock. i plan on getting the harley king tour pak (or something similar) and some nice slash-cut slip on mufflers... i've heard good things about python's exhaust, especially for the money. i am kinda on a budget, so that's the main reason why she's not getting fully tricked out... it'd cost way too much to do everything i would want to do to her... but anyway, can't wait to take delivery of the bike and get out and ride! if there's anyone near Clarksville, TN that needs a riding buddy, let me know... the guy i currently am gonna be riding with rides a suzuki gsx-r 750 (don't hate, he's a really good guy, just hasn't come around to getting a "real" motorcycle...) but anyway, cannot wait to get a little more involved on here, and check out the resources that are available on this forum... i'm also a member on a forum dedicated to ford ranger enthusiasts, and have gained a lot of good knowledge from that... so i'm sure i'll get the same here...

Welcome from York Pa
Thank you very much for your service.
The road king is a very nice ride and you bought the fastest color.
The touring bikes are great for daily rides and for long rides.
Welcome and enjoy the scoot!

Greetings from a fellow service member (retired ADAF) & congrats on the new scoot. If you haven't already - recommend taking BRC to gain some riding skills/knowledge. If you have - ride safe!
