Hello! My name is Brad, and I am going to sign the papers on my first bike before the weekend! I thought I would go ahead and sign up here to gain some knowledge, and to see what this Harley Davidson thing is all about! I am 27, and have just realized that having a bike is one of the cheapest things that one can own...so, I made that realization reality!
I hope to see you folks out there! Be safe!

Congrats on the bike, what will it be? Welcome to the forum, but many cars are cheaper than Harley's. But I guess it's still cheap as compared to: a MonoTracker, or as my husband suggests, a frozen aliquot of Secretariat **** (which you can't ride for at least two more years) (hmmm). Be safe!

Welcome from East Tennessee, but I do feel you have been misled about the cheap thing. I mean a boat may be more expensive, but I can't think of much else.
Although, a bike is definately one of the most fun things you can own! Enjoy and dig in here.

Well, apparently, I have been mistaken about the cheap part! I am buying a 2008 Sportster 883 custom, and doing it to satisfy my urge to buy a "go-fast" car like my wife calls it...I do know mods cost money, and trust me, I know how fast they add up. Luckily, the only add ons this bike will need is a solo seat, and some pipes. The stock HD exhaust is quite disappointing...But, I will get the bike, and learn it before I start changing things. I feel that a new thing is best learned while it is stock.

Thanks for the welcome folks! I am close to some really good riding blade76. I used to be wrapped up in corvettes and all of that, so I know the mountain roads. It would be quite some time before I make it up there though...at least safely. I really want to do this right...I want to take the MSF course, and then practice, practice, practice. I really want to enjoy this, and the best way I know how is to learn everything I can and arm myself with knowledge.
