Default Loving My New Iron!

Hello forum,
I have been wanting a motorcycle all my life. This past year I finally got a position at my job where I am able to afford a new motorcycle. I have spent a good year researching, checking craigslist/ebay, etc. I have sat on hundreds of bikes and none have felt right to me. My original intent was a crotch rocket but none of them felt comfortable and I dont want to go fast, I just wanted something to cruise and have fun on. Black Friday I got the urge to go check out a Harley at the Harley Davidson Dealership just for the hell of it. I always liked the look and name but never thought of owning one. I sat on the 48, Dyna, etc. Needless to say, as soon as I sat on the Iron I fell in love. This Monday I had it delivered to my house and couldn't be happier.

Just a couple newbie questions. I'm wanting a half-helmet but all the ones at the store had the mushroom look. I have a slim head and I looked goofy as hell. Anyone know of any good DOT approved half helmets with a slim profile? I want to protect my head as I promised the mother figure (who needless to say was heartbroken at my joy) that I would always wear a helmet.

I've also checked out the bassani sweeper exhaust system. Any pros/cons on it? And what would be a good filter? Of course they showed me the screaming eagle at the store but I was wondering what everyone else is using with some luck.

Thanks guys, can't wait for spring to get here! And now for some pics since I know everyone likes pics!

Welcome to the forum and hello from Mississippi. You might want to ask your questions in the Sportster forum or the general forum. Thats a good looking bike! I'm sure you can find a helmet to make Mother figure happy.

Congrats! I really like that bike.
As far as pipes ,you need to go hear some at bike nights or toy runs.street sweepers do sound good to me though.
Find an air filter set up that you like the looks of ,cuz they all pretty much will perform the same .
Skid lids are good DOT helmets but are hard to find now.
My last DOT helmet I bought was from advanced carbon composites and it is a little bigger than my skid lid but did not have the mushroom head look.
Hope this helps.
