If I had anything to say to encourage you it would be to say to take the MSF course first and then go from there test riding different bikes.
By taking the MSF course you get a discount on your insurance for a start and you might even learn a new thing or 2.
Can't give you any better advice than this. I quit riding in the early 80s and just started again about 6 years ago. The last bike I had back then was a 1946 Indian Chief. Had been riding limey bikes before then. I figured since the Indian was a 1200cc bike, I could just jump on a Harley and take off. No sir. I took the MSF course and learned a lot.
