After 30 Years - I'm back on the road
Hi all,
Retired Marine Master Sergeant. Wife and I have been looking at Harley's for 5 years marveling how they've changed over the years. Personally, I had an extremely hard time finding the nerve to get back on the road after 30 years of non-riding. I tried the logical approach and was looking at re-certified machines, did work for me. Didn't want someone elses problems or mods so we went new.
I ran across one Harley dealer that didn't pressure us, didn't promise everything in the book, explained the how's/the what's/the who's about getting on the road again and seemed genuine about what we were looking for.
We decided that we knew what we were looking for and did exactly that. We shopped at 4 OTHER Harley dealers applying the knowledge that we gained at each place and found out that not all harley dealers are the same. Long story short, we went back to the ORIGINAL dealer and settled on and commited to our newfound hobby.
We purchased the 2010 Road King Classic FLHRC, 96, Merlot and Cherry with Gold stripping separating the 2 primary colors. Heck, the guy at the dealer even drove it to my home where it took me 2 days to even pull it out of the garage. I wanted to know it, feel it, reclean it, and practice all the bells and whistles.
In closing, I promised my wife that we would drive this as a hobby, drive as defensively as we could like we want to live and grow older, don't drink and drive EVER, take the appropriate riding courses and most of all DON'T RUSH things.
See ya on the road..
